Penguins caught in oil spills need the little jumpers to keep warm and to stop them from trying to clean the toxic oil off with their beaks.

It’s that time again!

The Majors are endemic to the semi-arid and arid conditions of Australia’s mostly-dry interior, with the wet season bringing an abundance of plant and animal life back into the temporary lakes and rivers of the desert and floodplains, during which time many species of the inner desert plains are their busiest feeding, breeding and storing up reserves for the dry season. These parts of the Australian continent go through only 2 seasons a year: 1 wet and 1 dry, rather than the 4 seasons of the coastal and other areas.
